POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for polishing and buffing a variety of metal parts to the proper customer specifications. More complex operations may be performed under the supervision of the Group Leader. 1. Polish, grind and buff various parts using extreme care to maintain contours, radii, close diameters or relative dimensions and avoid excessive removal of metal. 2. Replace wheel or belt, applying compound to wheel as needed. 3. Manipulate part against a wheel to polish, grind, and cut down, color buff or finish to color. 4. Examine parts visually to frequently check progress of the finishing process. 5. Select belt, grit, buffing wheel and compound for the specific job. 6. Set up and align the equipment suitable for the operator position and piece to be finished. 7. Wrap finished parts or place in protective containers or plastic bags. 8. Prepare simple records of work completed, production information and counts of work completed. 9. Clean equipment enclosure, ducts and dust collector. 10. Maintain work area, equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly condition. 11. Follow safety rules. 12. Identify and report problems or difficulties to department supervisor.

Pay:

$21.37 - $24.67 per hour
