Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custom Home Cabinetry Lead Finisher to join our High End Custom Home Division; this pivotal role, you will oversee the finishing process of custom cabinetry, ensuring each piece meets the highest quality standards and aesthetic expectations. Your expertise in painting, coating application, and surface preparation will drive the production of beautiful, durable cabinetry that exceeds customer expectations. As a leader in the shop you will coordinate finishing operations, be hands on, uphold safety protocols, and mentor team members to maintain efficiency and craftsmanship excellence. Duties Lead the finishing team in applying paint, coatings, and specialty finishes to custom cabinetry using conventional spray guns, airless paint sprayers, and powder coating techniques. Interpret production documents and specifications to ensure precise color matching, surface preparation, and coating application. Prepare surfaces through sanding, masking, and surface treatment to achieve optimal adhesion and finish quality. Operate hand tools, power tools, machining equipment, and precision measuring instruments to facilitate fabrication and finishing processes. Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols including PPE use such as respirators and respiratory protection devices during all coating operations. Conduct visual color comparisons and quality inspections throughout the finishing process to ensure consistency with design standards. Handle materials safely using forklifts and proper materials handling procedures while supporting lean manufacturing principles for efficiency. Qualifications Proven experience in painting, coating application (including powder coating), and surface preparation for high end custom homes. Strong mechanical knowledge with familiarity in machining, fabrication, assembly, and new home construction painting surface preparation. Ability to interpret manufacturing documents such as work orders, process sheets, and technical specifications accurately. Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, spray guns (including airless systems), and coating equipment for production finishing tasks. Knowledge of safety protocols related to PPE use—especially respirators—and adherence to OSHA standards for industrial painting and coatings. Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to coating thicknesses, and color matching processes. Experience with visual color comparison techniques to ensure finish consistency across production runs.
