- $24 per hour depending on experience and education.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Inspect metal surfaces to detect defects, assess wear, and verify specifications, using micrometers, steel gauge pins, and loupes.
- Study blueprints or layouts of metal workpieces, applying knowledge of abrasives and polishing procedures, to plan setup and determine appropriate polishing sequences.
- Polish metal surfaces, using various diamond polishing compounds, stones, papers, and other polishing materials, to improve the surface finish and correct any material defects on metal components.
- Inspect, feel, and measure workpieces to ensure that surfaces and dimensions meet specifications.
- Perform basic equipment maintenance, such as cleaning and lubricating machine parts.
Talents and Credentials:
- High school graduate or GED; technical training or certification in polishing a plus.
- Minimum 5+ years polishing experience; plastic injection mold experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience, or related industry in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to speak, read and write in English.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good mathematical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and understand instructions, blueprints, internal sketches, and specifications.
- Proficient use of assigned tools and equipment including saws, grinders, profilers, pallet jacks, carts, etc.
- Understanding of all assigned systems, machinery, and equipment.
- Ability to use a computer to record order details.
- Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, carry, and move up to 50 pounds without assistance.
