Job Description

Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Stone Polisher to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for transforming raw stone materials into beautifully finished surfaces, ensuring each piece meets our high standards of quality and craftsmanship. Your expertise will contribute to creating stunning stone products used in construction, architectural features, and custom fabrication projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with skilled professionals in a dynamic environment dedicated to precision and excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Polish edges and cutouts to meet required finish standards.
  • Select appropriate abrasive wheels, pads, and compounds based on stone type and desired finish.
  • Wet stone surfaces and guide polishing tools over the material to achieve smooth, uniform results.
  • Inspect surfaces by sight and touch to detect uneven areas or imperfections.
  • Fill cracks or surface flaws using wax or filler to match the stone's color and pattern when needed.
  • Clean finished surfaces to remove grit, residue, or polishing compounds.
  • Maintain and repair polishing tools, pads, and station equipment; perform daily cleaning and upkeep.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely, including grinders, buffers, and pneumatic polishers.
  • Assist with other shop duties as needed, such as material handling or preparation (swing man role).
  • Follow production schedules and communicate material or equipment issues to the Production Manager.
  • Ensure adherence to all Cathedral Marble safety and quality standards.
  • May provide training to new team members in polishing techniques, tool care, or station organization.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned. Technical Skills
  • Proficient in polishing and grinding stone surfaces to desired finish levels.
  • Knowledge of abrasive materials, polishing compounds, and finishing techniques.
  • Ability to inspect, fill, and correct imperfections in stone surfaces.
  • Understanding of stone characteristics and edge finishing processes.
  • Experience maintaining polishing equipment and tools. Soft Skills
  • High attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work efficiently with minimal supervision.

Education and Experience:
  • Prior experience in stone fabrication, polishing, or a related skilled trade preferred.
  • Training may be provided for candidates with strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
  • Must be able to safely operate hand and power tools.

Equipment Used:
  • Portable grinders, polishers, pneumatic tools, abrasive wheels, buffing pads, water polishers, waxes, fillers, measuring devices, and standard shop safety equipment (gloves, hearing, and eye protection).
Pay:
$18.00 - $28.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 50.0 per week
