Full Job Description Hourly Rate:

$15+ (based off experience and skill)

Job Description:

A Finisher is a skilled craftsman responsible for applying the final finishing touches to custom-made pieces like doors, cabinets, and trim, ensuring a high-quality aesthetic by sanding, staining, painting, and sealing them according to specific design specifications, requiring a keen eye for detail, knowledge of various finishing products, and the ability to read blueprints to accurately interpret the desired look; key qualifications include experience with woodworking tools and techniques, proficiency in applying different finishes, and a strong understanding of color matching and grain patterns.

Key Responsibilities:

Surface preparation: Thoroughly sanding and cleaning pieces to remove imperfections and create a smooth surface for finishing.

Stain and paint application:

Applying stains, paints, and other finishes according to project requirements, including custom color blending and mixing.

Finishing techniques:

Utilizing various finishing techniques like spraying, distressing, glazing, and antiquing to achieve the desired aesthetic.

Quality control:

Inspecting finished products for defects, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to design specifications.

Blueprint reading:

Accurately interpreting blueprints and technical drawings to understand the intended design and finish requirements.

Maintaining equipment:

Cleaning and properly storing finishing tools and equipment.

Skills and Qualifications:

Finishing knowledge: Deep understanding of different types of stains, paints, sealers, and their application techniques.

Attention to detail:

Excellent eye for detail to ensure a flawless finish on all products.

Color matching skills:

Ability to accurately match colors and wood grains to client specifications.

Physical ability:

Capability to lift and handle heavy materials. Strong comprehension and communication skills Ability to follow instructions from the Shop Foreman, Superintendent, or Project Manager.

Problem-solving abilities:

Capability to identify and resolve issues during fabrication and installation processes without compromising quality or the integrity of the project.

Safety compliance:

Adhering to safety protocols on the job site, wearing required personal protective equipment. Positive and professional attitude and demeanor Ability to remain positive and professional under pressure. Must possess a willingness and desire to learn new techniques and improve techniques. Ability to work effectively as part of a team Punctual and communicative. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus!
