This position supports the finishing process by preparing wood and millwork for staining, painting, and clear coating. This is a hands-on position that requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work safely in a production environment. Experience with woodworking, sanding, painting, or architectural millwork is helpful but not required for the right person . What You'll Do Prepare architectural millwork and wood products for finishing Sand wood surfaces using hand and power sanding equipment Fill holes, seams, and imperfections as needed Mask and protect areas that should not receive finish Clean and prepare surfaces before stain, paint, or clear coat Assist finishers with staining, painting, and clear-coat preparation Move and organize millwork and materials throughout the finishing department Inspect work for defects and surface imperfections Maintain clean and organized work areas Clean and maintain sanding and finishing equipment Follow safety procedures and proper handling procedures for finishing materials Assist with other finishing department tasks as directed What We're Looking For Reliable and dependable attendance Strong attention to detail Willingness to learn finishing techniques Ability to work with hand and power tools Ability to follow instructions and work from shop drawings or work orders Comfortable performing repetitive sanding and preparation work Ability to lift and move millwork and materials Previous experience in woodworking, cabinetmaking, painting, sanding, or millwork is a plus Must be committed to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workplace
