A Finisher, Polisher, or Buffer cleans, sands and polishes materials such as wood, stone, plastic, or metal used in manufacturing processes. Performs finishing and polishing done at the final stages of production to prepare goods for consumers.
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Panel Shop/Model Maker (1st Shift) to support prototype fabrication and automotive build operations. This role is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and finishing sheet metal components based on blueprints and specifications, including Class A surface finishing for body panels. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on fabrication experience, can interpret technical drawings, and thrives in a fast-paced shop environment focused on precision and quality.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Plan, layout, fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal components and assemblies Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and product specifications to determine fabrication methods and sequence Set up and operate fabrication equipment including shears and press brakes Shape and form metal using hand tools, hammers, dollies, and forming equipment Perform trimming, grinding, deburring, buffing, and finishing of metal components Execute Class A surface finishing and repair for automotive body panels Inspect parts using checking fixtures and precision measuring tools such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers Utilize hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to meet design and quality requirements Ensure all work meets customer specifications and quality standards Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent 1-2+ years of sheet metal fabrication experience or ability to be trained Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings Experience using measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment Strong attention to detail and ability to complete tasks independently Authorization to work in the United States Additional Qualifications Experience with automotive prototype builds or metal forming preferred Understanding of die build components and terminology Experience with Class A surface finishing techniques Ability to operate or learn forklift and overhead crane equipment Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment Ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines in a high-volume shop setting Strong problem-solving and fabrication skills Commitment to safety and quality standards in a manufacturing environment Global Edge Consultants, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
