Job Description

Experienced Metal Finisher / Sheet Metal Finisher Precision Manufacturing Group (PMG) - Muskegon, MI Precision Manufacturing Group, a precision metal fabrication company, is seeking an experienced Metal Finisher / Sheet Metal Finisher to join our team. This is not simply a production grinding position. We are looking for a skilled finisher with an eye for surface quality and experience producing high-quality finished metal parts. Ideal experience includes Class A sheet metal, weld blending, surface preparation, dent and defect repair, grinding, sanding, and polishing. PMG produces precision fabricated metal products for a variety of demanding industries. What You'll Do Grind, sand, blend, clean, and polish fabricated metal components. Blend welds and surrounding surfaces to produce smooth, uniform finishes. Inspect and finish Class A sheet-metal surfaces where appearance and surface quality are critical. Identify and correct dents, creases, high/low spots, scratches, and other surface imperfections. Select and properly sequence abrasives and sanding grits to achieve required finishes. Work with carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other fabricated metals. Prepare surfaces for paint, powder coating, or final customer acceptance. Read and work from blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work instructions. Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality requirements. Safely operate grinders, DA/orbital sanders, polishers, files, and other finishing tools. What We're Looking For Professional metal finishing, grinding, or sheet-metal repair experience Strong understanding of metal surface finishing and defect correction Experience with grinders, sanders, abrasive discs, files, and related tools Understanding of abrasive grit selection and surface finishes Ability to work independently and maintain high quality standards Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship Dependable and productive with a willingness to work on a variety of projects Related Experience We Value Experience with Class A sheet-metal finishing, automotive body/metal repair, stainless-steel finishing, weld blending, metal polishing, custom fabrication, prototype fabrication, tool & die, or high-end architectural metalwork is a strong plus. Experienced automotive body or metal repair technicians are encouraged to apply. The ability to identify and correct dents, waves, creases, and other surface imperfections can transfer very well to this position. Why PMG? Qualifications Candidate must be able to work in other areas of the shop as needed. Must have good manual dexterity and the ability to communicate with coworkers. Work overtime when approved and scheduled by your manager. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. Experience 1 year metal finishing experience. 1-3 Years experience in a manufacturing environment.
