Job Description

Position Summary:
The Casegoods Lacquer Sprayer is responsible for applying high-quality lacquer, stains, sealers, toners, and topcoats to luxury wood furniture. This role ensures each piece meets Vanguard Furniture's standards for craftsmanship by producing smooth, consistent, and visually appealing finishes while maintaining production efficiency and adhering to all safety and environmental guidelines.
Position Responsibilities:
Apply lacquer, sealers, stains, toners, glazes, and clear coats to wood furniture using spray equipment. Adjust spray equipment to achieve proper finish thickness, coverage, and appearance. Prepare furniture surfaces by cleaning, inspecting, and ensuring components are ready for finishing. Maintain consistent color, sheen, and finish quality across production runs. Inspect finished products for defects such as runs, sags, dry spray, orange peel, pinholes, or uneven coverage. Perform touch-ups and rework as needed to meet quality standards. Mix, prepare, and monitor finishing materials according to product specifications and work instructions. Clean and maintain spray guns, pumps, hoses, booths, and other finishing equipment. Follow proper handling, storage, and disposal procedures for finishing materials. Monitor inventory of finishing supplies and notify supervisors when replenishment is needed. Work closely with sanding, touch-up, quality, and shipping departments to ensure products meet customer expectations. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Follow all OSHA, EPA, company safety, and environmental regulations. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience spraying lacquer, stains, or wood finishes in a manufacturing environment preferred. Experience in furniture finishing is highly preferred. Ability to safely operate spray equipment and finishing systems. Basic knowledge of finishing materials and color consistency. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of spray finishing techniques and equipment. Understanding of wood finishing processes and surface preparation. Ability to identify and correct finish defects. Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship. Ability to follow work instructions, finish schedules, and quality specifications. Good organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift. Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, and repetitive arm and hand movements. Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds with or without assistance. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including respirators, gloves, eye protection, and protective clothing. Ability to work in an environment with paint fumes, wood dust, moderate noise, and varying temperatures.
