Job Key Activities and Performance Indicators:

Set up and operate precision grinding machines to finish metal parts within tight tolerances of ±0.001" (plus or minus one thousandth of an inch Mount, true, and dress grinding wheels safely according to material hardness and specifications.

Secure parts accurately using magnetic chucks, vises, or custom fixtures while ensuring safe operation. Operate surface grinders, controlling feed rates and depths of cut to maintain ±0.001" tolerances and required surface finishes.

Verify part dimensions using micrometers, dial indicators, vernier calipers, and height gauges.

Blueprint Reading:

Interpret engineering drawings, routers, and manufacturing specifications.

Maintenance:

Perform daily machine cleaning, basic upkeep, and wheel safety checks. Responsible for working with team members to obtain a goal of 100% on time delivery performance with quality products and services for all our customers. This position will report to the Tooling/CNC Supervisor and works closely with the production team members and the quality team to ensure that parts produced meet our rigorous customer quality requirements. Interacts with all other Departments.

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or GED.

Previous Surface Grinding Experience (2-5 Years)

Basic reading and mathematical Skills and Competencies Dependable and can-do attitude required. Ability to problem solve and work under pressure a plus. Candidate must be comfortable working in an industrial environment. Reliable transportation to be at work at scheduled time The responsibilities of this position will include surface grinding of customer parts and support tooling for our production departments to required specifications.

Ability to use good set up techniques to produce complex parts accurately is needed.

Must be able to confidently read blueprints and inspect parts to those requirements.

Candidate must be comfortable working in an industrial environment.

Attention to detail is key.

Maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Collaborate with other production teams, as appropriate, for support in meeting customer delivery commitments.

Responsible for working with team members to obtain a goal of 100% on time delivery performance with quality products and services for all our customers. This position will report to the Manufacturing department Supervisor and works closely with other manufacturing team members and quality team to ensure that parts produced meet our rigorous customer quality requirements. Interacts with other Departments such as: Maintenance, plastics, stampings, purchasing and accounting.

Dependable and can-do attitude required.

Reliable transportation to be at work on schedule.

Ability to speak, read and write English required.
