JOB DESCRIPTION APX
is looking for a reliable and skilled Powder Coating Technician to join our production team. This position is based in our Mercersburg sheet metal fabrication facility and focuses on preparing and coating primarily aluminum parts using an electrostatic powder coating process. The technician will also need to work in other areas on the paint line to ensure proper flow.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate electrostatic powder spray guns and related equipment to apply high-quality coatings to aluminum parts and assemblies. Ensure a uniform and consistent finish that meets product quality standards. Visually inspect coated parts for complete coverage and finish quality. Operate and maintain the wash bay system to properly prepare parts for coating. Use cure and dry ovens as part of the finishing process. Test finishes and collaborate with the supervisor to address any coating or quality concerns. Identify defective products and determine the appropriate corrective action or whether to reject the part. Assist with cleaning and general maintenance of powder coating equipment and the surrounding work area. Cross-train in other production departments and assist with forklift operations as needed. Perform additional duties in support of the powder coating and finishing process.
QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years of experience in powder coating (preferred). Experience working with aluminum parts is a plus. High school diploma or GED preferred. Flexibility to work various shifts, including occasional weekends, as needed. Must have reliable transportation. Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and a commitment to quality. Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs comfortably. Willingness to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
