Job Title:
Manufacturing Paint Preparation Finisher Job Description This role focuses on preparing truck parts and components for painting by performing sanding, grinding, taping, and related finishing tasks in a manufacturing environment. You support the painting process through careful disassembly, surface preparation, and quality inspection to ensure a high-quality finish on cabs, truck bodies, and associated parts. Responsibilities Prepare parts for painting by sanding, taping, and caulking truck components according to established procedures. Use basic hand tools and cleaning equipment to support paint preparation and finishing activities. Disassemble truck components, including parts, cabs, and truck bodies, in preparation for painting. Grind and sand metal surfaces of parts, cabs, and truck bodies to achieve proper surface condition prior to painting. Perform visual quality inspections on parts before and after painting to ensure they meet required standards. Remove parts from the paint line and handle them safely to avoid damage and maintain finish quality. Assist with general production tasks related to assembly, metal finishing, and preparation as needed. Accurately read and use a tape measure to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet specifications. Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient production and safe operations. Essential Skills At least 6 months of experience in manufacturing or equivalent hands-on production environment. Ability to perform sanding, grinding, blasting, and polishing on metal and other surfaces. Experience with auto body or painting work, including preparation and finishing of parts. Proficiency in visual inspection to identify surface defects and quality issues. Ability to safely operate grinders and other basic hand tools. Capability to read and use a tape measure accurately. General production and assembly experience in a manufacturing setting. Metal finishing skills, including grinding and sanding to prepare surfaces for paint. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in auto body repair, refinishing, or industrial painting environments. Experience in sanding, blasting, and polishing for surface preparation. Experience working on truck bodies, cabs, or similar large assemblies. Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment with repetitive tasks. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finished parts. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position operates in a manufacturing facility focused on truck components and paint preparation. The standard shift runs Monday through Thursday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, providing a consistent schedule with extended workdays. You work around paint lines, metal finishing equipment, grinders, sanding tools, and general production machinery in an industrial setting. The environment requires adherence to safety practices, proper use of personal protective equipment, and comfort with standing, moving, and handling parts throughout the shift. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Murfreesboro, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
