The Stainless-Steel Finisher is responsible for cleaning, grinding, polishing, and finishing fabricated stainless steel products to ensure they meet established quality and appearance standards prior to shipment. This position primarily works with 300 series stainless steel and is responsible for removing weld marks, slag, scratches, discoloration, and other imperfections created during the manufacturing process. The Finisher uses various hand and power tools to grind welds smooth and polish stainless steel surfaces to a standard #4 polished finish. This position also assists with applying laminate to custom countertops and performs other finishing and production-related duties as needed.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Clean, grind, sand, and polish stainless steel products to meet established quality and appearance standards. Grind welds smooth and blend finished areas to create a consistent surface and appearance. Remove slag, scratches, weld marks, heat discoloration, and other imperfections resulting from the fabrication and manufacturing process. Polish stainless-steel surfaces to achieve a standard #4 polished finish or other specified finish requirements. Inspect finished products for scratches, imperfections, sharp edges, or other quality concerns prior to shipment. Use grinders, sanders, polishers, hand tools, and other finishing equipment safely and effectively. Select and use appropriate abrasives, polishing materials, and tools based on the product and required finish. Take appropriate care when finishing products to prevent damage to completed surfaces. Assist with the application of laminate to custom countertops and other products as required. Handle and move materials and finished products safely throughout the work area. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Follow established safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Communicate quality concerns, product defects, or equipment issues to the appropriate supervisor. Work cooperatively with fabrication, welding, production, and other team members to meet production and shipping schedules. Perform other duties and production-related tasks as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience with stainless steel finishing, metal fabrication, grinding, polishing, or a related manufacturing environment preferred. Experience using grinders, sanders, polishers, and other hand or power tools preferred. Ability to learn and consistently produce a standard #4 stainless steel finish. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. Ability to identify scratches, discoloration, weld imperfections, and other surface defects. Ability to follow instructions, established processes, and safety procedures. Ability to work independently as well as part of a production team. Dependable attendance and ability to work assigned schedules and overtime as needed.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Strong attention to detail and visual quality. Ability to safely operate hand and power tools used in metal finishing. Basic understanding of stainless-steel finishing techniques and abrasives. Ability to perform repetitive finishing work while maintaining consistent quality. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Ability to prioritize work and meet production deadlines. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands of this position include: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday. Frequent use of hands and arms to operate grinders, sanders, polishers, and other tools. Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and repetitive hand and arm movements. Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull materials and products as required for the position. Ability to safely handle and maneuver stainless steel components and finished products. Ability to perform work requiring manual dexterity and close visual attention. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and other PPE as appropriate.WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position works primarily in a manufacturing and fabrication environment. The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, metal particles, vibration, moving equipment, and other conditions typical of a metal fabrication facility.
