HVAC / AC
Technician is responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of air conditioning, heating, ventilation, refrigeration, and climate-control systems throughout a food manufacturing facility. This position plays an important role in maintaining proper temperature, humidity, air quality, ventilation, and environmental conditions required for employee safety, product quality, production efficiency, sanitation, and compliance with food manufacturing standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES HVAC
/ Air Conditioning Systems Maintain, troubleshooting, repair, and service industrial and commercial AC systems. Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment, including: Air handlers Condensing units Evaporator coils Compressors Condensers Blowers and motors Exhaust and ventilation fans Thermostats and controls Variable frequency drives (VFDs) Ductwork and dampers Filters Diagnose electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and control-system problems. Monitor and maintain proper temperature and humidity levels in production and storage areas. Respond promptly to AC/HVAC breakdowns that may affect production or product quality. Maintain proper airflow and ventilation throughout the facility. Inspect and maintain exhaust systems and make-up air systems. Food Manufacturing Environment Understand that HVAC and environmental controls are critical to food safety and product quality. Maintain production area temperatures and humidity within established company specifications. Help prevent condensation, excessive moisture, mold growth, and other environmental conditions that could negatively affect food products. Ensure HVAC equipment is maintained in a sanitary condition and does not create a contamination risk. Follow company GMP, sanitation, food-safety, and allergen-control procedures. Protect exposed products and production equipment when performing maintenance. Follow proper procedures when working above or around food-production areas. Coordinate maintenance activities with Production, Sanitation, Quality Assurance, and Management.
PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE
Follow the facility's preventive maintenance program and scheduled work orders. Inspect HVAC and refrigeration systems regularly. Replace filters, belts, bearings, motors, contactors, capacitors, sensors, and other components as required. Lubricate equipment according to manufacturer recommendations. Clean coils, condensers, evaporators, drain pans, and other components as required. Inspect equipment for unusual vibration, noise, temperature, pressure, or electrical conditions. Maintain accurate maintenance records, including repairs, inspections, parts used, and equipment conditions. Identify recurring equipment problems and recommend corrective actions.
ELECTRICAL AND CONTROLS
Troubleshoot electrical components associated with HVAC and refrigeration systems. Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and control diagrams. Test motors, capacitors, relays, contactors, breakers, sensors, thermostats, and other electrical components. Troubleshoot PLC-controlled HVAC equipment and electronic control systems when applicable. Safely use electrical testing equipment such as multimeters and other diagnostic instruments.
EMERGENCY / BREAKDOWN RESPONSE
Respond to HVAC and refrigeration emergencies as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in a food, beverage, candy, chocolate, bakery, or other food-processing facility. Experience with industrial refrigeration systems. Experience with building management/control systems. HVAC/R trade school, technical certification, or equivalent training. Experience with preventive maintenance software or CMMS systems.
Pay:
$27.00 - $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
