Position:

Full-Time, On-Site Position Summary An established commercial greenhouse operation in Southwest Florida is seeking an experienced Grower to take a key role in managing hydroponic lettuce production. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys being in the greenhouse, understands the science behind crop performance, and is comfortable taking ownership of results. Key Responsibilities Manage crop performance from seeding through planned harvest. Monitor plant health, growth rate, crop uniformity, quality, and yield. Manage irrigation, nutrient programs, EC, pH, water quality, and plant nutrition. Monitor greenhouse environmental conditions and make adjustments to optimize crop performance. Identify and correct crop issues using plant observations, water and tissue analysis, environmental data, and production records. Develop and maintain crop-production protocols and growing standards. Manage Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs and monitor pest and disease pressure. Develop and maintain accurate seeding, transplanting, and harvest forecasts. Coordinate crop schedules with operations and sales requirements. Identify potential yield, quality, or crop-timing issues early and develop corrective actions. Lead and train growing, seeding, and transplanting employees. Operate and understand greenhouse environmental-control systems. Maintain accurate crop, nutrient, environmental, pest, disease, and production records. Plan and execute variety, nutrition, environmental, and production trials and document results. Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Food Safety, and other departments to support production goals. Maintain appropriate inventories of fertilizers, growing supplies, biological controls, and other crop-production materials. Continuously identify opportunities to improve crop yield, quality, consistency, and production efficiency. QualificationsRequired 3+ years of commercial greenhouse or Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) growing experience; 5+ years preferred. Experience with commercial hydroponic or greenhouse crop production. Strong understanding of plant physiology and plant nutrition. Strong understanding of EC, pH, fertilizer management, irrigation, and water chemistry. Experience identifying and correcting nutrient deficiencies and crop-performance issues. Experience with Integrated Pest Management (IPM). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret crop and production data and translate findings into corrective actions. Strong communication and leadership skills. Comfortable using Microsoft Excel, Word, and other standard business or production software. Preferred Commercial experience growing hydroponic lettuce or leafy greens . Experience with DWC, NFT, moving-gutter, or similar hydroponic systems . Experience with Priva or comparable greenhouse environmental-control systems . Bachelor's degree in horticulture, plant science, crop science, agriculture, biological sciences, or a related discipline. Equivalent commercial growing experience will also be considered. Pesticide applicator certification, PCA/CCA credential, or ability to obtain applicable licensing after hire. Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills. Physical Requirements Ability to work in greenhouse conditions including high humidity, moisture, and varying temperatures. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to safely navigate greenhouse production areas and stairs. Ability to reach, bend, balance, and grasp as required. Ability to occasionally lift and move materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds. Schedule This is a full-time, on-site position. The Grower must be available as required to support crop operations, including occasional weekends, holidays, or after-hours response when crop or greenhouse conditions require attention.
