Job Description

CKI S ervice Group is looking for a top-quality, experienced Commercial HVAC/R Service Technician to join our team. This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for a technician who can troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC and ventilation equipment with minimal supervision. Our customers are primarily restaurants and commercial foodservice facilities , so experience working in these environments is highly preferred. Equipment You'll Work On Our technicians service a wide variety of commercial HVAC and ventilation equipment, including: Commercial rooftop/package units up to approximately 25 tons. Mainly 5-12.5 ton DOAS (Dedicated Outdoor Air Systems) Heated and cooled make-up air units Kitchen exhaust and ventilation systems Commercial duct systems and airflow issues Split systems Gas and electric heating systems Controls, thermostats, safeties, motors, contactors, relays, and related electrical components Some water-cooled HVAC systems No chiller work What We're Looking For We want a technician who understands that replacing parts is not the same thing as troubleshooting. The right candidate should be able to arrive at a service call, evaluate the complete system, identify the actual cause of the problem, communicate the findings clearly, and make a professional repair.
You should be comfortable with:
Diagnosing refrigeration circuits using pressures, temperatures, superheat, and subcooling Electrical troubleshooting with a meter and reading wiring diagrams Diagnosing compressors, motors, capacitors, contactors, relays, transformers, safeties, and control circuits Troubleshooting gas and electric heating systems Diagnosing airflow, duct, static-pressure, and ventilation problems Troubleshooting make-up air and kitchen exhaust systems Identifying problems involving outside-air requirements and building pressure Performing preventative and planned maintenance Documenting your findings and repairs accurately Explaining equipment problems and recommended repairs professionally to customers
Qualifications Required:
Strong commercial HVAC service and troubleshooting experience EPA Section 608 certification Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills Ability to work independently and manage service calls efficiently Ability to safely work from ladders and on commercial rooftops Professional appearance and communication Dependability and a strong work ethic
Preferred:
Previous restaurant or commercial kitchen HVAC experience Experience with DOAS and make-up air systems Experience with commercial kitchen exhaust systems Experience servicing rooftop/package equipment in the 5-25 ton range Experience with water-cooled HVAC equipment Experience diagnosing airflow and building-pressure problems The Technician We're Looking For We're interested in an experienced service technician and troubleshooter , not simply someone who has installed HVAC equipment or performed basic maintenance.
You should take pride in:
Diagnosing the root cause instead of guessing Doing the repair correctly the first time Keeping customers informed Treating customer facilities and equipment professionally Writing clear service notes Maintaining an organized service vehicle Taking responsibility for your work Continuing to improve your technical knowledge Restaurant HVAC can be demanding. A failed rooftop unit, make-up air system, or kitchen exhaust system can directly affect a restaurant's ability to operate. We need technicians who understand that urgency while still working safely and diagnosing equipment correctly. What We Offer Competitive compensation based on experience and ability Full-time employment Company service vehicle Opportunities for overtime Ongoing technical development Variety of commercial service work Opportunity to work independently without being micromanaged A company that values technical ability, professionalism, and quality workmanship Apply If you're an experienced commercial HVAC technician who knows how to troubleshoot—not just change parts—we'd like to hear from you. Please submit your resume along with a brief description of your commercial HVAC experience, including the types and sizes of equipment you are comfortable diagnosing and repairing.
