Job Description

Job Overview Simpson Farm Enterprises is seeking a hands-on, mechanical-minded Agricultural Equipment Technician to join our team at the Ransom, KS location. This role specializes in equipment setup, pump rebuilds, and operating chemical and fertilizer transfer systems to fill customer nurse equipment and load liquid products safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities Nurse Trailer & Skid Assembly:
Assemble, plumb, and configure agricultural nurse trailers, liquid transfer skids, and custom application setups from start to finish.
Chemical & Fertilizer Loading Systems:
Plumbing and setting up chemical induction systems, liquid fertilizer tender setups, meters, and high-volume transfer pumps.
Pump Rebuilds & Repairs:
Rebuild, repair, and test various agricultural liquid transfer and sprayer pumps (e.g., Hypro, Banjo, centrifugal, and diaphragm pumps).
Parts:
Assist local farmers and custom applicators with finding the right fittings, hose assemblies, valves, and sprayer components.
Shipping & Receiving:
Receive incoming chemical and bulk shipments, manage local warehouse inventory, and prepare orders for pickup.
General Shop & Technical Work:
Perform custom plumbing, general mechanical maintenance, and maintain a clean, compliant, and safe chemical/fertilizer handling area.
Chemical & Fertilizer Handling:
Load customer purchases of prepackaged and bulk agricultural chemicals. Safely fill customer nurse trailers, tender tanks, and sprayers with liquid fertilizer and chemical solutions. Qualifications & Skills Strong mechanical aptitude: hands-on experience with liquid transfer plumbing, pump mechanics, or chemical/fertilizer handling equipment is highly preferred. Familiarity with agricultural bulk liquid transfer systems, valves, hose crimpers, and safety procedures for handling crop protection products. Basic computer skills for looking up parts, processing customer transactions, and tracking inventory. Strong attention to detail, commitment to workplace safety, and a customer-focused attitude. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors and in a shop/warehouse environment. Benefits & Perks Competitive hourly wage based on experience.
