Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic food safety and microbiology team as an Entry Level Food Lab Technician specializing in Microbiology! This exciting role offers an opportunity to develop foundational skills in laboratory testing, quality control, and compliance within a fast-paced research and development environment. You will be instrumental in supporting food safety initiatives, ensuring products meet rigorous standards, and contributing to innovative food science projects. This paid position is perfect for motivated individuals eager to launch their career in the food industry with a focus on microbiological analysis and laboratory excellence. Duties Perform microbiological testing on food samples to detect pathogens, spoilage organisms, and other contaminants following established laboratory procedures. Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records, including data collection, analysis results, and sample tracking using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). Follow strict laboratory safety protocols, including chemical handling safety procedures and sterile techniques, to ensure a safe working environment. Assist with routine quality control checks and support adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP), and FDA regulations. Prepare culture media, reagents, and solutions needed for microbiological assays while maintaining proper inventory levels. Operate laboratory instruments such as incubators, microscopes, autoclaves, and other microbiology equipment with technical proficiency. Support research projects by conducting experiments related to microbiology techniques, molecular biology methods, and cell culture processes under supervision. Experience Prior industrial or research laboratory experience in microbiology or related fields is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate. Familiarity with laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs), laboratory research practices, and record keeping is highly desirable. Basic understanding of molecular biology techniques, histology, or clinical laboratory procedures will be considered an asset. Strong analysis skills combined with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for data documentation and reporting. Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions accurately while maintaining attention to detail in a research setting. Experience working within a regulated environment such as FDA compliance or pharmaceutical/food manufacturing is a plus. A background in animal physiology or scientific research enhances understanding of biological systems relevant to microbiological testing.
