Agronomy Manager/Assistant Agronomy Manager Job Summary The Regional Sales Agronomist is responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationships while providing agronomic expertise, crop input recommendations, and sales support. This position promotes and sells agronomy products and services, including seed, crop nutrients, crop protection products, precision agriculture services, and other related offerings. The Regional Sales Agronomist works to maximize customer profitability, cooperative market share, and overall customer satisfaction while supporting operational efficiency, safety, and the mission of Farmers Win Cooperative. The Regional Sales Agronomist will maintain a positive attitude that promotes teamwork within the cooperative and fosters a favorable image of the cooperative among customers and the communities we serve. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Sales and Customer Service Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through regular farm visits and communication. Provide agronomic recommendations based on crop needs, soil conditions, yield goals, and economic considerations. Promote and sell seed, fertilizer, crop protection products, precision agriculture services, and other agronomy-related products and services. Prepare and present agronomic plans, crop input recommendations, and pricing proposals. Identify opportunities to increase sales volume and market share within assigned territories. Meet or exceed established sales goals and performance objectives. Assist customers with product selection, application recommendations, and troubleshooting crop production issues. Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally. Stay informed on industry trends, new products, technologies, and agronomic practices. Attend industry meetings, training sessions, educational programs, and cooperative meetings as assigned. Maintain accurate customer records, sales activities, and account information. Assist with collection efforts and maintain awareness of customer credit status. Agronomic Consulting Conduct field scouting and crop inspections to identify nutrient deficiencies, disease pressure, weed issues, insect concerns, and other agronomic challenges. Interpret soil tests, tissue tests, and other agronomic data to develop recommendations. Assist customers in implementing best management practices to improve crop performance and profitability. Provide recommendations regarding fertility programs, seed placement, crop protection products, and precision agriculture technologies. Assist with field trials, demonstration plots, and customer educational events. Operations and Plant Support Assist with agronomy plant and warehouse operations as needed. Support blending, loading, unloading, inventory management, and product handling activities. Ensure products are mixed and prepared according to specifications and quality standards. Maintain accurate documentation for inventory movement, product transfers, and customer transactions. Assist with inventory monitoring and communicate inventory needs to management. Work cooperatively across departments during seasonal workload demands. Delivery and Equipment Operation Operate company vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently. Deliver products to customer locations as needed. Verify products, quantities, and documentation prior to loading and delivery. Inspect products during loading and unloading processes. Ensure accurate sales tickets, delivery records, and customer documentation. Collect payment when required and follow company procedures for transactions. Safety and Regulatory Compliance Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and training requirements. Comply with OSHA, DOT, EPA, state, federal, and local regulations. Maintain all required licenses, certifications, and training necessary to perform job duties. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections when operating commercial vehicles. Report accidents, incidents, unsafe conditions, and equipment concerns immediately. Utilize proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when required. Maintain a safe and clean work environment. Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and cooperative safety initiatives. Maintenance and Housekeeping Assist in maintaining agronomy facilities, equipment, vehicles, and grounds. Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance activities. Report repair needs and equipment concerns promptly. Maintain housekeeping standards in warehouses, plants, storage areas, and workspaces. Other Duties Uphold all cooperative policies and procedures. Support cooperative initiatives, programs, and community involvement efforts. Maintain confidentiality of customer and cooperative information. Work extended hours, weekends, and seasonal schedules as business demands require. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management. Qualifications Education and Experience Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture, Agricultural Business, or related field preferred. Agronomy sales experience preferred. Knowledge of crop production, seed, fertilizer, crop protection products, and precision agriculture technologies. Agricultural background or farming experience beneficial. Skills and Abilities Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Excellent sales, negotiation, and customer service abilities. Ability to analyze agronomic data and provide recommendations. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency with computers, mobile technology, and business software. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Licenses and Certifications Valid driver's license required. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred or ability to obtain. Commercial Pesticide Applicator License preferred or ability to obtain. Additional certifications as required by regulatory agencies or cooperative policy. Physical Requirements Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance. Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and work in varying weather conditions. Ability to work around agricultural chemicals, fertilizers, seed products, dust, noise, and moving equipment. Ability to work extended seasonal hours during peak periods. Working Conditions This position requires work in offices, agronomy facilities, warehouses, customer farms, fields, and outdoor environments.
