- 170450 Primary Purpose of Position To serve the Appalachian community using sustainable practices, creative and intentional menus, and engaging customer service.

License/Certification Required Essential Job Functions Duties of the position may include: Maintaining all university specifications pertaining to production and service. Control proper usage and rotation of food. Ensure food quality and appearance on buffet. Alert Chef or direct supervisor to any food quality issues that could hurt culinary operations. Maintain walk-in coolers and food storage areas daily. Maintain a neat, clean, and sanitary workstation. The person selected must follow cleaning and sanitation procedures and other duties as assigned by a supervisor. Serves appropriate portion sizes determined by Unit Management Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position Knowledge of methods of preparation and cooking of food in quantity lots. Knowledge of the uses of various pieces of equipment, including but not limited to steamers, steam pots, fryers, grills, slicers, and ovens. Ability to maintain high standards of personal cleanliness as well as food sanitation. The job requires attention to detail, initiative, and decision-making capabilities. Team player attitude and superior customer service skills are required. Initiative to work beyond what is requested within the unit to achieve business goals of quality and service standards. Preferred Qualifications 2+ years of related front of house food service experience. ServSafe certification should be obtained within 1 year of employment. - 11:00 pm operation. Operations are reduced during university breaks. Employees are scheduled two days off each week based on business need. Days off may not be consecutive days off. Food Service Technician (FST)
