Nature & Scope:
The Food Safety Sanitation Technician cleans & sanitizes all equipment and structural elements of the facility and adjoining grounds in compliance with Company specifications and with company policy related to GMP's, SSOP's and Safety. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. This position will report to the Sanitation Manager. A premier candidate will be a hard-working, dependable, team player that is willing to learn and strive for improvement.
Specific Job Responsibilities & Duties:
Perform all sanitation for the assigned area including facilities and equipment following the Standard Operation Procedures and job instructions. Inspect assigned areas daily. Work with Production, Maintenance and Warehouse leaders to address problems in assigned areas. Perform deep cleaning of all equipment. Properly use chemicals to aid in cleaning. Ensure that work is completed according to schedule. Be diligent with documentation requirements. Be proactive in detecting and correcting sanitation/maintenance problems including writing maintenance reports as needed. Maintain constant communication with Sanitation Manager and other sanitation crew members. Perform visual inspection of facility and ingredients for insect and rodent activity and report them to the Sanitation Manager of Shift Supervisor. Access needed supplies and track what is used according to established methods. Always know the whereabouts of tools. Follow all lock out/tag out procedures contacting maintenance leader or Sanitation Manager for lockout support. Ensures that the Food Safety program is adhered to. Ensures that all SOP's are being followed. Inform Sanitation Manager of any food safety problems. Alerts Sanitation Manager for need to update or modify SOPs based on needed changes to the processes. Take corrective actions when measures are out of specification. Meet or exceed established targets. Follow all GMP's. Keep process areas clean and neat. Ensure all buildings meet sanitation requirements. Follow all safety procedures. Report all unsafe actions and conditions. Assume responsibility for self-improvement. Participate in the improvement/problem solving process.

Able to work a flexible work schedule and be on call as assigned. Mechanically inclined. Not afraid to get wet or dirty. Willing to work weekends. Trouble shooting skills. Attention to detail (specifications). Able to follow detailed instructions. Understand the Master Cleaning Schedule. Understand sanitation practices and procedures. Understand all terminology for sanitation procedures. Know the location of all sanitation procedures. Know the appropriate application and handling techniques for all chemicals. Knowledgeable of all lock out/tag out procedures. Knowledge of all hazardous communication procedures. Verbal and Math Skills Ability to frequently lift up to 75 lbs. Know when to ask for help. Understand SQF requirements for sanitation and GMP'S. Know safety regulations and procedures. Understand the manufacturing process and equipment and how their responsibilities relate to its proper functioning. Complete understanding of food safety, quality control, quality assurance, sanitation principles and environmental/food micro techniques.
