DOE Opportunity for increased hours and full-time employment as production grows About the Position We are a growing confectionery manufacturing operation in Sedro-Woolley looking for a mechanically inclined production professional to support packaging, manufacturing and order fulfillment. We are specifically looking for someone who has experience working around manufacturing machinery and understands production beyond simply packing products into boxes. Experience with horizontal flow-wrap / flow-pack equipment is highly desirable. This is a lean operation, so the right person should be comfortable moving between machine operation, packaging, troubleshooting, inventory and fulfillment depending on what production requires. Responsibilities Set up and operate packaging equipment Assist with horizontal flow-wrapper / flow-pack operation Load packaging film and production materials Set and adjust basic machine parameters Perform product and packaging changeovers Monitor package seals, film tracking, registration and alignment Identify and clear jams or feeding issues Troubleshoot basic equipment problems Make routine adjustments to maintain production quality Monitor packaging quality throughout production runs Perform equipment cleaning and basic preventative maintenance Package finished confectionery and liquid products Assemble cartons, cases and secondary packaging Apply and verify product labels Verify lot, batch and production information Conduct finished-product quality checks Count and reconcile finished production quantities Organize finished-goods and packaging-material inventory Pick and prepare customer orders Verify fulfillment accuracy Maintain production and inventory documentation Keep manufacturing and fulfillment areas clean and organized Assist with general production operations as needed Equipment Experience We're Interested In Experience with any of the following is valuable: Horizontal flow wrappers / flow-pack machines Form-fill-seal equipment Packaging lines Label applicators Date and lot coding equipment Filling equipment Conveyors Heat sealers Cartoning equipment Food-production machinery Automated manufacturing equipment You do not need to have experience with every type of machine. We are much more interested in someone who understands machinery and can learn new equipment, make adjustments, identify problems and troubleshoot basic issues. We want someone who pays attention to how the machine is running, recognizes when something is wrong and has the mechanical mindset to help determine why. Schedule This position will initially be part-time with variable/on-call production hours . Hours will depend on manufacturing, packaging and fulfillment volume. The right candidate will have the opportunity to take on increased hours and responsibilities as production grows, with the potential to transition into a full-time manufacturing position. Compensation Pay is DOE and based on manufacturing, mechanical and equipment experience. Candidates with direct horizontal flow-wrapper, automated packaging or similar machinery experience may command higher compensation.
