A Food or Agricultural Technician assists agricultural and food scientists with research and testing related to safety and quality control. May focus on testing and lab analysis for animal crops and animal feed, or focus on testing and lab analysis for food, food crops, processed food, food additives and food containers.
Onsite Schedule Continuous rotating schedule: 4 nights on / 4 nights off, 6:00 PM•6:00 AM. Job Summary We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform routine analytical testing in support of food safety, quality, and operations. This role is responsible for conducting laboratory tests, monitoring equipment, documenting results, and supporting compliance with established quality and food safety procedures. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working in a laboratory environment, and able to follow established procedures with appropriate supervision. Responsibilities Perform routine quantitative and qualitative testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products. Monitor laboratory instrumentation and perform routine equipment checks. Perform calibration checks, preventive maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment. Accurately document test results in databases and laboratory records. Communicate test results to internal teams as required. Maintain current product specifications and related laboratory documentation. Follow established food safety, quality, regulatory, and laboratory procedures. Support quality and food/feed safety programs and compliance activities. Assist with laboratory trials and experiments under supervision. Identify and communicate unusual results, equipment issues, or other concerns. Prepare routine reports and documentation. Work with Quality, Operations, Food Safety, and other teams to support laboratory and manufacturing activities. Follow applicable safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, Microbiology, or a related scientific field is preferred . Laboratory or analytical testing experience is preferred. Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and analytical instrumentation. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to read and follow safety procedures, operating instructions, and laboratory procedures. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to document information accurately and work with electronic databases. Ability to work independently on routine assignments and escalate issues when needed. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Onsite laboratory and manufacturing environment. Work may involve exposure to varying temperatures and dusty areas. Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to climb ladders and perform facility cleanliness inspections. Ability to bend, crouch, or crawl when required to perform job duties.
