Job Description

BUKO Furniture is a growing Danish mid-century modern furniture showroom and restoration workshop in Los Angeles. We are looking for a reliable, hands-on Furniture Workshop & Restoration Assistant to work alongside our experienced furniture refinisher. This is a practical, physical position for someone who enjoys working with their hands and takes pride in doing things carefully and efficiently. Previous professional furniture restoration experience is not required. Experience with tools, woodworking, moving, construction, cabinetry, furniture assembly, warehouse work, or another hands-on trade is helpful. You will assist our lead refinisher with the daily preparation and restoration of vintage furniture. We are looking for someone dependable who is comfortable taking direction, doing repetitive hands-on work when necessary, and keeping a clean and organized workspace. Responsibilities Cleaning and preparing furniture for restoration Sanding and surface preparation Removing and reinstalling hardware Assisting with stripping and refinishing Basic furniture assembly and minor repairs Moving and positioning furniture safely with another team member Preparing pieces and materials for the lead refinisher Keeping tools, supplies and the restoration area clean and organized Helping stage completed pieces for the showroom Learning additional restoration techniques as skills develop Assisting with other workshop tasks as needed What we're looking for Reliable and punctual Comfortable with physical, hands-on work throughout the day Able to safely lift and move furniture with another person Comfortable using basic hand and power tools, or able to learn quickly Detail-oriented and able to follow instructions Works efficiently without sacrificing quality Keeps tools and work areas clean and organized Comfortable working under the direction of an experienced refinisher Willing to help wherever needed rather than focusing on only one type of task Interested in stable, consistent work Furniture restoration experience is not required Schedule We are looking for someone with consistent availability. Thursday through Monday availability is strongly preferred. Compensation $20-$24/hour depending on relevant experience and demonstrated ability. W-2 employee position with payroll taxes withheld.
