Fiberglass Fabrication Lead Holland Fiberglass Tampa, FL Job Details Full-time $25 - $30 an hour 22 hours ago Benefits Paid holidays Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance Life insurance Qualifications Fabrication Restoration Personal protective equipment (PPE) adherence Assembly Mentoring Crew management Respirator Full Job Description We're looking for an experienced Fiberglass Fabrication Lead to help run the day-to-day work in our fabrication shop. This person will still be hands-on with the chop gun, repair, and lay-up work, but will also guide a small team, keep projects moving, and make sure the quality of our work stays where it needs to be. Our projects cover a lot of ground, including automotive, marine, theme park work, and a lot of our umbrella work, so no two weeks look exactly the same. This role is a good fit for someone who's flexible, likes variety, and is willing to jump in wherever the team needs help. What You'll Do Leading the team Work with management to organize daily work for the fabrication crew based on project priorities and deadlines Train and mentor newer technicians on chop gun operation, lay-up techniques, repair methods, and shop procedures Check work in progress and completed work to make sure it meets quality standards and specs Set the example for safety, including PPE, respirator use, and good shop habits, and correct unsafe practices when you see them Communicate with the supervisor/management on project status, staffing needs, material needs, and any issues that come up Help keep the shop organized and make sure tools, equipment, and materials are ready to go Cross-train in different areas of the shop and help cross-train others so the team can cover each other when priorities shift Step in and help wherever needed to keep projects on schedule, whether that's fabrication, repair, umbrella work, or another area of the shop Leading the team Work with management to plan the crew's daily work around project priorities and deadlines Train and mentor newer technicians on chop gun, lay-up, repair methods, and shop procedures Check work for quality and make sure it meets specs Set the example for safety, including PPE, respirator use, and good shop habits Keep management updated on project status, staffing, materials, and any issues Keep the shop organized and make sure tools, equipment, and materials are ready to go Cross-train across the shop and help wherever needed, including fabrication, repair, and umbrella work Hands-on fabrication and repair Operate and maintain chop gun equipment for spray-up work, keeping material mix and thickness consistent Perform hand layup, lamination, and fiberglass repairs, restoring components to like-new condition Build, repair, and maintain production molds and fiberglass structures Work from blueprints and specs to measure, cut, and assemble components accurately Prep surfaces by grinding, sanding, and cleaning Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently Why Join Us? Occasional travel could be a possibility. Special Requirements This role requires wearing a respirator. A clean-shaven face is needed for a proper seal on a tight-fitting respirator.
