Job Summary:
As the Lead Installer, your primary focus is hands-on installation leadership. You will build, train, and direct an in-house team of commercial furniture installers while serving as the primary field partner. You will translate space planning and CAD drawings into precise on-site execution, driving the physical assembly process and overseeing quality control from delivery to the final client walkthrough.
Key Responsibilities:
Build and Lead the
Team :
Partner with HR to interview and hire new talent. Supervise the Installers' daily work and review their performance to ensure high-quality craftsmanship.
Hands-on Team Support :
Jump in and personally assist the Installers with physical furniture assembly and installation when necessary to meet tight deadlines or handle complex installations.
On-Site Field Foreman :
Act as the main contact on the job site for the Project Manager or Account Executive. Give regular updates on site readiness, installation progress, and any delays to keep the installation on schedule and on budget.
Scheduling and Staffing :
Coordinate schedules and timelines so every job has the right number of Installers. Work closely with Sales, Design, and Project Management to keep things running smoothly.
Material Check-In and Verification :
Manage upcoming installation of product, whether handling off-site pickups or receiving direct job site deliveries. Count boxes and items to double-check them against shipping documents like the Bill of Lading (BOL) and Bill of Materials (BOM). Quickly report any missing or damaged items.
Technical Execution :
Read and understand space planning and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) drawings to plan the team's work. Maintain technical certifications and follow manufacturer guides so all work protects product warranties.
Training and Development :
Create and run training programs for the Installers. Teach them quality standards and specific manufacturer assembly techniques. Participate in specific brand training, like Teknion, to receive certification.
Site Inspections :
Visit job sites before, during, and after installation. Verify exact room measurements, check electrical outlet placements, and plan where to safely store and unpack materials.
Site Safety & Compliance :
Enforce all site safety rules. Ensure every Installer uses proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), follows safety training, and meets company standards.
Installation Closeout :
Complete installations accurately and on time. Take photos of any damaged items and track the final punch list (the list of small fixes needed at the end of a job).
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Solid field experience installing commercial furniture, or a background running installation crews and construction subcontractors. Valid Hawaii driver's license. Good communication skills for checking in with clients, internal teams, and the crew on site. Comfortable using a smartphone or computer to check build schedules and update job progress. Ready to work a flexible full-time schedule, including nights or weekends when a big job needs to get wrapped up.
Preferred Requirements:
3-5 years of hands-on trade experience in furniture setups or construction. Forklift experience (sit-down or stand-up models). Certification to install major furniture lines, like Teknion. A track record of leading large projects, like multi-floor office setups or jobs with over 20 workstations.
Physical Requirements:
Able to stand, walk, and use hand or power tools for long periods of time. Wear the company-branded shirt provided and maintain a clean professional appearance. Drive to job sites across the island, plus occasional inter-island travel. Ready to travel out of state or country for factory training as required. Able to stoop, kneel, climb ladders, and balance while inspecting installations or job sites. Routinely lift and move up to 75 lbs without assistance.
