Job Summary Carolina Urban Lumber is hiring a Custom Woodworker to create and finish custom wood products using locally sourced and reclaimed lumber. This role involves selecting and preparing materials, operating woodworking equipment, assembling projects, and producing high-quality finished pieces according to project specifications. Common Job Roles Custom Woodworker Woodworking Specialist Custom Furniture Woodworker Woodcraft Technician Woodworking Production Associate Key Responsibilities Select, measure, cut, shape, and prepare lumber for custom projects Operate saws, planers, sanders, routers, drills, and other woodworking equipment Build custom furniture, fixtures, tables, and other wood products Read and interpret measurements, drawings, work orders, and project specifications Assemble wood components using appropriate joinery, adhesives, and hardware Sand, stain, seal, and finish wood surfaces according to project requirements Inspect completed work for accuracy, quality, and craftsmanship Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and workstations in good condition Assist with lumber handling, material preparation, and inventory organization Follow workshop safety, quality-control, and production procedures Perform additional woodworking duties assigned by management Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous woodworking, carpentry, furniture making, cabinetmaking, or manufacturing experience is an asset Basic knowledge of woodworking tools, equipment, and materials Strong measurement, precision, and attention-to-detail skills Ability to follow drawings, specifications, and project instructions Ability to safely lift, move, and handle lumber and finished products Reliable, safety-conscious, and willing to learn Preferred Skills Experience working with reclaimed, live-edge, or specialty lumber Knowledge of woodworking joinery and furniture construction Experience with sanding, staining, sealing, and finishing techniques Strong craftsmanship and quality-control abilities Good problem-solving and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a woodworking team About the Company Carolina Urban Lumber operates in the lumber and custom woodworking industry, supporting the preparation and use of wood materials for custom projects and finished products.
