We are looking for a reliable, hard-working, detail-oriented Furniture Repair & Refinishing Technician to support repair, restoration, and finishing projects in our shop. Furniture refinishing or repair experience is helpful, but it is not the most important requirement. We are willing to train the right person who shows up on time, works hard, takes direction well, pays attention to detail, and takes pride in quality work.
Responsibilities may include:
Preparing furniture for refinishing, including cleaning, stripping, sanding, and masking Assisting with staining, sealing, oil finishes, lacquer finishes, and other wood finishing processes Supporting structural and cosmetic furniture repairs Performing touch-ups and finish repairs as skills develop Maintaining tools, equipment, supplies, and shop work areas Safely lifting, moving, and handling furniture What we are looking for: Strong work ethic and willingness to learn Consistent punctuality and reliable attendance Attention to detail and pride in the finished product Ability to take direction and apply feedback Basic comfort using tools or working with your hands Respect for the shop, team, client furniture, and quality standards Preferred experience or skills: Furniture refinishing, restoration, repair, or woodworking experience Knowledge of wood furniture construction methods Experience with sanding, staining, lacquer, tung oil, spray finishes, color matching, or furniture repairs Experience is preferred, but we are more interested in finding someone dependable, teachable, and serious about learning the craft.
Physical requirements:
This is a hands-on shop position. Applicants must be able to perform the essential functions of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation, including lifting up to 75 lbs., bending, kneeling, reaching overhead, and performing repeated motions for extended periods. Work is performed in a covered outdoor shop environment, including during Austin summer heat.
Schedule:
Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 10AM to 6PM or 9AM - 5PM. Additional hours may be available based on shop workload. We are open to discussing a flexible schedule for the right candidate, but reliability and punctuality are required.
Pay and growth opportunity:
Initial paid trial period: $18/hour for two weeks Ongoing pay: Up to $22/hour depending on experience, reliability, performance, and skill development Opportunities for increased responsibility, advancement, and growth may be available based on demonstrated performance, consistency, craftsmanship, and ability to work independently over time.
