JOB DESCRIPTION
Assist mechanics and shop personnel with the maintenance of school vehicles and equipment. DUTIES and
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform assigned shop repairs. Assist Technicians with mechanical problems on vehicles and equipment. Care for and maintain the upkeep of all tools and equipment. Check buses for safety problems. Perform preventative and routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment based on established schedules. Maintain a safe and clean work area. Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job. Help keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately. Employee must provide basic hand tools (screwdrivers, hammer, hand wrenches, socket sets, etc). Regular attendance. Perform other job duties as assigned. Work irregular hours as needed. Maintain confidentiality.
EXPERIENCE
1 year of mechanical experience Must be 18 years of age or older
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma/GED Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to perform minor mechanical repairs with supervision Ability to pass random alcohol and drug tests Knowledge of general mechanical repairs Ability to work cooperatively with bus drivers, monitors, and office staff Ability to operate equipment and tools involved in vehicle repair

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting and carrying of equipment and parts, (45 lbs. or more), stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work outside, inside, and around moving objects or vehicles. Exposure to dampness and humidity and slippery or uneven walking surfaces. Irregular work hours.
