English speaking required; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred About Us Founded in 1984, Lambert's Ironworks is a DFW-based company specializing in custom gates, fencing, wood fencing, gate automation, and architectural ironwork. We design, fabricate, and install nearly all of our work in-house, allowing us to maintain high standards for quality, craftsmanship, and service. We work with homeowners, builders, and trade partners across the Dallas-Fort Worth area and are focused on building a long-term team that values accountability, reliability, professionalism, teamwork, and pride in workmanship. Job Summary Lambert's Ironworks is seeking a dependable Material Prep & Shop Technician to support our fabrication and installation teams. This is an entry-level position designed for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in doing things the right way, and wants to build a long-term career in the trades. Every new employee begins by learning Lambert's material preparation standards, shop workflow, quality expectations, and safety procedures. As part of their development, employees will also learn Lambert's post-setting standards and assist with field work as training and business needs allow. This is a physically demanding position requiring consistent attendance, initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work efficiently in both shop and outdoor environments throughout the year. Success in this role is measured by reliability, safety, productivity, organization, communication, and the consistent preparation of materials that support efficient fabrication and installation. Key Responsibilities Clean, prepare, and stage steel materials using Lambert's material preparation standards and VAT cleaning system Perform basic cutting, grinding, cleaning, and preparation of steel materials as needed Organize, sort, label, and store steel materials to support efficient shop operations Prepare materials for fabrication, welding, and installation teams Load, unload, move, and stage steel, materials, and equipment throughout the shop Assist with receiving deliveries and preparing completed materials for shipment or installation Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following company safety standards Learn proper use of shop equipment, tools, and material handling procedures Learn Lambert's post-setting standards and assist with field work as training and business needs allow Support fabrication, shop, and field operations as business needs require Qualifications Experience 0-2 years of shop, warehouse, construction, or general labor experience preferred Experience using basic hand tools and reading a tape measure preferred Forklift or material handling equipment experience preferred, but not required No prior metal fabrication or welding experience required; training provided Skills & Traits Initiative and accountability Reliable with consistent attendance Strong work ethic and positive attitude Willingness to learn and accept coaching Organized and productive High attention to detail Pride in workmanship Comfortable performing physical work in shop and outdoor environments Onboarding & Development Every new employee begins by learning Lambert's material preparation standards, shop workflow, quality expectations, and safety procedures before assuming additional responsibilities.
