Job Description

Shape Great Customer Experiences—One Repair at a Time Ashley Furniture HomeStore—recognized as the #1 Mattress and Furniture retailer in North America—invites you to bring your craftsmanship to our customers' doors as a Field Furniture Restoration Technician. You'll restore and refinish pieces both at our distribution center and inside customers' homes, blending technical skill with genuine customer care. A Day in the Role You start at the distribution center reviewing your planned route so every appointment runs on time. You load your well-organized service vehicle with the repair materials you'll need. On-site, you greet customers with empathy and professionalism, listen carefully to their concerns, and assess each item—deciding if parts are required and confirming whether the piece can be returned to good stock through repair. You repair case goods (wood and manufactured materials) and upholstery, including leather, restoring items to like-new condition within committed timeframes. You clean stained or soiled furniture and mattresses when needed. Between visits, you document work according to standard operating procedures, record activity, and notify the Customer Response Team if a service call can't be completed as planned. Back at base, you support fellow techs, participate in bench testing evaluations that validate your skills, and—when available—assist shop technicians with larger repairs. Weekly, you perform vehicle maintenance and log updates to keep everything running smoothly. What You'll Tackle Engage customers with empathy; respond promptly to needs. Diagnose issues; determine parts replacement needs and repair-to-stock viability. Repair and refinish wood/case goods, fabric upholstery, and leather within set timelines. Clean stains and soils on furniture and mattresses. Operate hand and power tools safely—especially drills, impact drivers, and multi-tools. Complete bench testing evaluations for regular validation of skills. Mentor and support the development of other technicians. Follow SOPs for documentation and activity reporting. Adhere to planned routes to ensure on-time arrival for customer repairs. Report any incomplete or problematic service calls to the Customer Response Team. Perform weekly vehicle maintenance and update logs as required. Maintain a clean, well-stocked service vehicle with required materials and supplies. Comply with company driving policy and annual MVR review requirements. Assist shop technicians with repairs as needed when required and available. Skills & Background High School Diploma. At least 1 year of hands-on furniture repair (upholstery, leather, wood refinishing) OR related material repair experience with color matching. Read, write, and understand English; additional languages are a plus. Self-directed with strong time management. Comfort learning in-house computer programs. Valid Driver's License and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record per company guidelines.
