Summary The Die Cutter (Punching) Operator is responsible for setting up and operating machinery that cuts sheet material into pieces of a specific size and shape. Through the process of die cutting, the machinery uses a combination of rollers and cutting plates that press a precise shape into the material.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
Responsible for starting the die cutting machine, monitoring speed according to product specifications, feeding the paper roll, placing the good segments on the intended platform, and separating the defective segments. Calibrates and adjusts machinery according to die-cutting registration to ensure efficient and timely startup. Troubleshoots machinery and complies with the daily assigned production plan. Verifies all the acceptance parameters of the stamped segments, according to the acceptance criteria provided by supervisor. Selects and discards segments with die registration defects, as well as segments that are outside of the printing parameters and identified with the respective flags in the printing process. Communicates defects or possible defects to supervisor before determining to accept or reject material. Monitors the operating parameters for the machinery and reports incidents or variations to a supervisor. Performs die changes according to the production planning. Removes all process waste to ensure cleanliness in die cutting, in addition to weighing and estimating the amount of waste. Removes the die cut segments from the machine onto the pallets. Complies with all safety rules, PPE, polices, procedures and practices to include performing lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) of equipment when required. Performs other duties as assigned by the Production Lead, Shift Supervisor or Department Manager. Qualifications:
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED Experience
  • One year in a manufacturing environment, paper industry preferred / One year as an equipment operator. Skills
  • Basic computer skills.
Basic Math skills. Mechanical aptitude. Ability to function independently. Must be ability to read, write and speak English. Good oral and written communication skills. Physical Demands (Manufacturing Plant): The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Work an 8+ or 12+ hour shift while sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, grasping, use hands to finger, grasp with hands and arms, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and lifting throughout the entire shift. Requires the manual movement of cases of finished goods that weight up to 50 pounds. Working Conditions (Manufacturing Plant): Exposed to extreme heat. In-doors in a manufacturing environment that is not air conditioned. Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles Wear PPE while working, which includes hairnet, hearing protection and safety glasses with side guards. Work an 8+ or 12+ hour day shift Able to work weekdays, weekends and overtime.
