Connecticut Saw & Tool is looking for a reliable, mechanically inclined person to join our shop team. This is a hands-on position where you will learn to sharpen and process carbide cutting tools while developing skills on a variety of machines and equipment. No previous sharpening experience is required—we will train the right person. We're looking for someone who is dependable, enjoys working with machines and tools, pays attention to detail, and is willing to learn and take on new responsibilities. What You'll Do Learn to sharpen carbide-tipped saw blades, router bits, and other cutting tools Operate and learn a variety of sharpening and grinding machines Set up machines and make adjustments for different tools Inspect finished tools for quality and accuracy Use precision measuring equipment Perform basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting Learn multiple processes and become proficient on different types of equipment Assist with general machine shop and production activities Keep equipment and work areas clean, organized, and safe Work independently as your skills develop while contributing to the overall shop team What We're Looking For The most important qualities are: Reliable and dependable — good attendance and punctuality are extremely important Mechanically inclined — enjoys working with machines, tools, and equipment Willing to learn — you don't need to know everything coming in Adaptable — comfortable learning different machines and taking on different tasks Detail-oriented — our work requires precision and consistency A problem solver — able to think through mechanical and production issues Hands-on — enjoys working with tools and equipment Safety conscious — takes pride in doing things correctly and safely Experience That Is Helpful — But Not Required Experience in any of the following is a plus: Machine shop CNC operation Traditional machining Grinding Mechanical maintenance Manufacturing Industrial equipment Automotive or equipment repair Welding or fabrication Tool & die Technical/vocational school Direct carbide sharpening experience is not required. We are more interested in your mechanical ability, reliability, and willingness to learn.
