Our principal products include gears and transmissions, accessory gearbox assemblies, rotorcraft drive systems, and other machined and fabricated parts for helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. We also provide maintenance and repair and overhaul (MRO) on these platforms.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position are listed below. This list is not all inclusive and may be amended by Northstar, from time to time. Set up and operate machine on a diversified range of grinding operations. Will monitor quality and adjust offsets in machine to hold tolerances per the blueprint specifications during production. Select correct wheels, feeds, speeds and accurate alignment. Grinding of complex multiple diameters, shafts or gears, where diameters, radii must be held in close and exact tolerances dimensionally. Inspect finished work pieces to determine conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as gauges and micrometers. Observe machine operations to detect any problems; make necessary adjustments to correct problems. Required to have knowledge of what grinding wheel needs to be used for certain types of materials. Set and adjust machine controls according to product specifications, utilizing knowledge of machine operation. Mount grinding wheel in machine chucks using crane. Study blueprints and work orders to determine product specifications. Will oil and stack all finished parts neatly on a pallet or a box. Will protect all parts with wax paper and corrugated paper when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Must have 3 years experience in ID Grinding/OD Grinding. Familiarity with Springfield, Okuma, Kellenberger, Studer, Universal and Heald machines. and have a good understanding of blueprints Must know speeds and feeds for different types of material. Must have experience with inspection tools such as micrometer, gauges, calipers, etc. Problem-solving skills Mechanical aptitude with the various types of tools used in the machining process At Northstar, we understand the importance of Total Rewards and offer varied benefit offerings based upon location.
