Continental Diamond Tool was established in 1973, in New Haven, Indiana. We are a superabrasive specialist that provides custom cutting, polishing and grinding tools to multiple industries. Position Summary The Bonded Grinding Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining metal bond, vitrified bond and resin bond grinding machines to produce high-quality precision parts. This will include tasks such as turning, drilling, grinding and polishing. This role requires attention to detail, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate metal bond, vitrified bond and resin bond grinding machines to grind and finish precision parts according to specifications. Set up and adjust grinding machines, including selecting and installing grinding wheels and adjusting machine settings. Required to read, understand, and follow work orders and engineering drawings. Ability to inspect the product using scales, calipers, micrometers, bore gages, comparators and other equipment as needed. Ability to select the proper work holding and tooling needed for optimum productivity. Ability to recognize, trouble shoot and correct noncompliant products Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations, and properly using and maintaining PPE. Required to meet standard productivity requirements. Inspect finished parts for accuracy and quality, using precision measuring tools such as scales, Calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, comparators and other equipment as needed. Perform routine maintenance on grinding machines to ensure optimal performance. Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve production issues. Document production activities and maintain accurate records. Perform other duties as required.
Preferred Skills:
Safely run and use required equipment. Required to read and understand work instructions, paperwork, and drawings. High school diploma or GED; technical training in machining or grinding preferred. Proven experience as a grinding operator, preferably with resin bond grinding machines. Strong understanding of grinding processes and techniques. Proficiency in using precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Commitment to safety and quality standards.
Personal Attributes:
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Strong mechanical aptitude. 3+ years of related experience preferred. High level of interpersonal communication skills. Good computer skills; excel, word, ERP systems. Excellent attention to detail and have sound judgement. Physical Demands Stand for extended periods of time. Seldom required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50lbs).
Pay:
$21.00 - $25.00 per hour
