Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented 3rd Shift Grinder Operator to join our manufacturing team. This vital role involves operating heavy-duty grinding equipment during overnight hours to ensure the efficient processing of recyclable and solid waste materials. Role and Responsibilities Operate grinding machines, achieving specifications including quality and throughput. Implement continuous improvement activities. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Perform required daily maintenance to equipment and tools. Work from procedures and prescribed operation sequences to achieve parts per print and quality specifications. Monitor, observe and listen to machine operation to detect malfunctions. Ensure work piece is being properly lubricated and cooled; coolant lines properly located. Monitor process and specifications. Notify supervisor and/or department Lead Person of discrepancies. Perform own part inspection during grinding process to measure work piece to check to match specs, using measuring instruments such as microscope, optical comparator, micrometer, caliper, dial indicators and gauges. Communicate with co-workers, members of other shifts, technical leader, team leader and/or supervisor to transfer and receive instructions and information. Perform 1st piece and In-process inspections for self. Record measurements per inspection plans and methods indicated. Machine materials other than metal, such as composites, plastic, and rubber. Mechanical knowledge related to machinery operation and maintenance is highly desirable. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently throughout the shift. Strong commitment to safety protocol adherence and environmental regulations. Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to follow detailed instructions accurately. Shift is Sunday to Friday 11pm to 7am
