Premier Tooling Systems is looking for an experienced ID/OD Grinder to join our team in Grand Blanc. We're looking for someone who understands precision work, can work from a print, knows how to make adjustments to hold size and finish, and takes pride in the quality of the work coming off the machine. As an ID/OD Grinder, you'll perform precision grinding on components used in custom cutting tools and tooling systems. You'll be responsible for: Setting up and operating ID and OD grinding equipment Grinding components to specified dimensions, tolerances and surface-finish requirements Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings and job specifications Selecting and properly dressing grinding wheels for the application Adjusting speeds, feeds and machine settings Inspecting your work throughout the grinding process and making adjustments as needed Using micrometers, indicators, bore gauges and other precision measuring equipment Monitoring concentricity, runout, size and finish Troubleshooting setup, dimensional and finish issues Producing accurate, repeatable work from part to part Working with machinists, engineering and quality to meet customer requirements Rquirements Previous ID and/or OD grinding experience Experience setting up grinding equipment — not just operating it Ability to read and work from blueprints and technical drawings Strong experience with precision measuring tools Knowledge of grinding wheels, wheel dressing and grinding techniques Ability to make adjustments and troubleshoot dimensional, finish and runout issues Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail Pride in producing accurate, high-quality work Experience in precision machining, cutting tools, tool and die, aerospace, medical, prototype or other tight-tolerance manufacturing environments is required. This isn't high-volume, push-a-button production. Our team builds precision tooling for specific customer applications, which means experience, craftsmanship and problem-solving matter here.
