BLASTING & FINISHING OPERATOR
will perform a variety of finishing operations with a primary focus on bead blasting and surface preparation to meet customer-required finishes. This role will operate blasting equipment, pull setup sheets, inspect finished parts, and perform hand-finishing and other secondary operations as needed. This position is performed in an environment with regular noise from blasting and other operating equipment. Hearing protection is recommended but not required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include but are not limited to: Operate and use bead blast blasting systems to achieve specified surface finishes. Load, unload, and properly position parts for blasting operations. Follow setup sheets, work instructions, and customer specifications for blasting and finishing requirements. Inspect blasted and finished parts to ensure they meet quality and visual standards. Pull and follow setup sheets to complete jobs accurately and efficiently. Obtain first-piece approval and proceed with production once requirements are met. Perform hand-finishing operations including deburring, polishing, sanding, filing, chamfering, and straightening parts. Operate vibratory finishing equipment and tumblers as required. Maintain clean and organized blasting and finishing work areas. Develop knowledge of blasting and finishing processes to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and quality. Make appropriate edits or recommendations to setup sheets to improve processes and efficiencies. Follow all established safety and operating procedures when working with blasting equipment and other machinery. Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or GED required. 1-2 years of manufacturing experience is preferred. Medical blasting experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills. Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize and adapt to shifting priorities. Exceptional problem solving and decision-making skills and the ability to think independently. Must pay attention to detail. Ability to read blueprints and use hand tools is a plus. Must be able to work in other areas on an as needed basis. Show initiative in work by being a self-starter, suggesting new ideas for completing a job, giving input as to how to improve the efficiency of a job, and organizing work time in order to complete jobs in a timely matter.
