Role:
The Grinder -1st Shift plays a critical role in the durable goods manufacturing process by preparing and finishing metal components to precise specifications. This position ensures that all parts meet quality standards through careful grinding, smoothing, and shaping, directly impacting the overall product integrity and customer satisfaction. Working primarily on the first shift, the Grinder will operate various grinding machines and hand tools to remove excess material and achieve the desired surface finish. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are essential to maintain a safe and efficient work environment. Ultimately, this role supports the manufacturing team by delivering high-quality components that meet production deadlines and specifications.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in grinding or metal finishing in a manufacturing environment. Basic knowledge of measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Capability to work the1st shift schedule reliably.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in grinding or metal fabrication. Experience with CNC grinding machines. Familiarity with durable goods manufacturing processes. Strong understanding of workplace safety standards and practices. Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain grinding machines and hand tools to finish metal parts according to specifications. Inspect parts for defects and measure dimensions to ensure compliance with quality standards. Remove burrs, sharp edges, and excess material to prepare components for assembly or shipment. Follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and resolve any issues. Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote efficiency and safety. Document work performed and report any equipment malfunctions or quality concerns.

The required skills such as operating grinding machinery and using precision measuring tools are essential for producing components that meet exact specifications. Attention to detail ensures that defects are identified and corrected promptly, maintaining product quality. Reading blueprints and technical drawings allows the Grinder to understand the dimensions and tolerances required for each part.
