Job Description
About the Role We are looking for a skilled Lathe Technician to join our manufacturing team. You will be responsible for driving production efficiency by independently managing machine setups, optimizing tooling selections, and performing rigorous quality inspections to ensure all components meet exact specifications. Responsibilities Interpret complex engineering blueprints and job orders to determine optimal feed rates, cutting speeds, and tooling requirements. Execute complete machine setups, including securing workpieces and calibrating fixtures to maintain high-precision output. Monitor machining operations in real-time to detect wear or malfunctions, ensuring consistent quality and minimizing downtime. Perform detailed dimensional inspections using advanced metrology tools to verify conformance to strict tolerances. Calculate necessary machine adjustments and scribe reference lines to facilitate accurate material removal. Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, to safely transport heavy workpieces and tooling. Collaborate with the production team to troubleshoot equipment issues and improve overall process reliability. Qualifications Required Skills Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with Manual or CNC Lathe operation. Proven ability to consistently hold tolerances of ±0.002". Expertise in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings and GD&T standards. Proficiency in utilizing precision measuring instruments and hand metrology. Ability to independently manage the full lifecycle of a production run, from setup to final inspection. Preferred Skills Demonstrated success in CNC programming and advanced equipment troubleshooting. Experience with multi-axis lathe systems and diverse machine controllers. Strong analytical skills for complex tolerance analysis and process optimization.
