Full Job Description Job Description:
Sea Island Land Development is seeking a dedicated Tailman to join our team in Ravenel, SC. The Tailman plays a crucial role in assisting heavy equipment operators, ensuring safe and efficient operations on construction and land development sites. This position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work in various outdoor conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist heavy equipment operators by providing guidance, signals, and support to ensure safe and accurate work. Ensure proper grade levels by checking elevations and assisting with layout and site preparation. Operate hand tools, lasers, and other survey equipment to verify and maintain grading specifications. Communicate effectively with the site supervisor, equipment operators, and laborers to ensure smooth workflow. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including clearing debris and setting up work zones. Follow safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. Perform other duties as assigned to support land development projects.
Qualifications:
Prior experience in grading, construction, or land development is preferred. Ability to read and interpret site plans, blueprints, and grade stakes. Familiarity with construction equipment and tools, including lasers and measuring devices. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Work Environment:
Outdoor construction site environment with exposure to weather conditions, dust, and noise. May require working extended hours, including weekends, as needed.
