HAZMINCEN
Technician to support the Hazardous Materials Minimization Center (HAZMINCEN) and Hazardous Waste operations for an ongoing contract with the Government. This is a full-time, civilian position. The ideal candidate will have at least two (2) years of relevant experience in an environmental operation. Primary duties are related to assisting customers with hazardous material (HM) requirements. Regular HM tasks include the receipt, issuance and management of HMs; support of onsite HM inventory inspections; HM database entry; Safety Data Sheet (SDS) research; report generation, and filing. Routine tasks include assistance with hazardous waste (HW) compliance, pick-ups and 90-day yard inspections. This position will be part of a Team and required to assist in all areas of the operation, as needed and assigned. This is an on-site position, which requires the candidate to work on site and not remotely.Skills Required:
Working knowledge of hazardous materials Hazardous material segregation and compatibility Deal courteously and efficiently with customers and clients Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently Knowledge of HW compliance Database entry Basic Chemistry knowledge Use / knowledge of SDSs (Internet research when needed) Highly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Access, Word & PowerPoint Demonstrated technical writing and reporting experience (such as preparing reports, SOPs, and other technical documents) Wet-laboratory experience, particularly in safely handling and storing chemicals and hazardous materials. Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment and basic laboratory operations. Familiarity with industrial environments and their associated safety protocols. Ability to adhere to a fixed work schedule Self-starter and highly motivated Work cooperatively as a team member Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with diverse personnelEducation/Training:
Science education/degree preferred, but job experience may be accepted Formal training in the chemistry of Hazardous Material (HM) is preferredHAZWOPER
(29 CFR 1910.120) training preferred / may train for the right applicant Forklift certification preferred (or willing to train for certification).
