The temporary position serves as a Hazardous Merials Laborer establishing containments, identifying, removing, packing, transporting, or disposing of hazardous merials. Thursday Hours May Change Due To Operional Needs of Management Duties Include:
Receives formal and on-the-job training to remove hazardous merials in accordance with safety regulions. Identifies asbestos, lead, or other hazardous merials th need to be removed, using monitoring devices. Constructs scaffolding and builds containment areas prior to beginning abement or decontaminion work. Removes asbestos and/or lead from surfaces, using hand and power tools such as scrapers, vacuums, and high-pressure sprayers. Cleans contamined equipment or areas for re-use, using detergents and solvents, sandblasters, pressure washers, and steam cleaners. Follows prescribed safety procedures, and complies with federal laws reguling waste disposal methods. Removes lead-based paint from various surfaces (brick, plaster, wood, etc.) using chemical strippers, power opered hand tools or complete demolition of substra so th follow-on construction can be performed. Places removed hazardous merials in approprie containers for disposal in accordance with applicable regulions. Loads and unloads merials into containers and onto trucks. Erects containment merials to restrict the disbursement of airborne contaminants. Operes machines and equipment to remove, package, store, or transport loads of waste merials. Records numbers of containers stored disposal sites, and specifies the amounts and types of equipment and waste disposed. Removes asbestos by hand from various surfaces (piping, ductwork, floor tile, ceiling tile, etc.) so th follow-on construction can be performed. Places removed asbestos in approprie containers for disposal in accordance with applicable regulions. Removes masonry merials containing silica with power opered and hand tools. Places removed silica containing merials in approprie containers for disposal in accordance with applicable regulions. Assists with receiving, storing, and/or issuing specific merials, tools or equipment, such as general supplies, construction merials, or tools, tarps, etc. Assists journey level trades workers by performing general laborer duties such as moving large quantities of merials weighting up to 50 lbs. and cleaning up job sites. Uses simple hand and power tools: saws, hammers, drills, planes, etc. to erect and build containments for hazardous merial abement in accordance with approved work plan. Constructs containments from wood, polyethylene sheeting and other merials so th the work area is segreged from adjacent spaces. Installs flex-duct and negive air machines in advance of the work starting. Removes containments the end of the abement. Requirements Help Conditions of employment You must be a U.S. Citizen.
