Back Stone Setting Metal Smith @ Stuller Description Join our Manufacturing team — production, assembly, operation of equipment, and more — and help us deliver an unmatched selection of products made with quality materials and workmanship. The Stone Setting department is responsible for polishing, engraving, plating, and setting stones, demanding high dexterity, concentration, and attention to detail to ensure the quality of each piece. The Stone Setting Metal Smith plays a critical role in bringing jewelry designs to life with expert craftsmanship and precision. Responsible for specialized tasks as a Precision Assembler, Precision Fitter, or Precision Finisher, ideal candidates will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, a passion for quality, and the ability to work with fine materials to create beautiful, high-quality pieces. Key Responsibilities Precision Assembler Assemble jewelry pieces with accuracy using specialized tools. Operate a small torch to apply heat for soldering and fusing metal parts. Perform minor metal repairs with a laser tool. Ensure clean finishes by operating polishing wheels and other finishing tools. Safely remove excess material from jewelry pieces using air tools. Follow detailed instructions to apply the correct adhesives and solder materials. Maintain high-quality standards with minimal rework. Precision Fitter Polish jewelry pieces to a flawless finish using polishing machines and compounds. Use handheld buffers and stamping machines to ensure all pieces meet quality standards. Perform inside ring polishing and manage final finishing steps. Maintain consistent quality with minimal touch-ups and recasts. Precision Finisher Shape and refine jewelry components using sanding belts, polishing wheels, and rotary tools. File and sand pieces to create a smooth, seamless finish. Ensure jewelry is assembled correctly and securely. Perform detailed work using handheld tools for precision.
