As a Jewelry Repair & Service Specialist, you will help guests care for their treasured pieces through accurate repair intake, knowledgeable guidance, attentive communication, and exceptional service. This is a customer-facing jewelry service position and is not a bench jeweler role . We are happy to train the right candidate on repair procedures, service documentation, estimates, quality control, and our internal systems. However, we prefer someone who has previously worked in the jewelry industry and already understands basic jewelry terminology, materials, and construction. The ideal candidate should be comfortable recognizing and discussing common jewelry metals, gemstones, settings, components, and repair needs. This includes understanding basic differences between sterling silver, white gold, yellow gold, rose gold, and platinum and basic stone identification. Responsibilities Warmly greet guests and provide a polished, professional experience. Assist guests with jewelry repair and service intake. Carefully inspect jewelry and accurately document stones, settings, visible damage, identifying characteristics, and requested work. Assist with services such as ring sizing, prong repair, stone tightening, soldering, chain and clasp repair, cleaning, inspections, appraisals, watch batteries, and other jewelry or watch-related needs. Create accurate and detailed repair and service orders. Explain repair recommendations, pricing, estimated timelines, warranties, guarantees, and jewelry-care practices. Coordinate with our jewelers, appraisers, watch specialists, and outside service partners. Track open repairs and communicate updates to guests. Follow up with guests regarding estimates, approvals, completed repairs, and pickup. Review completed repairs for accuracy and overall quality before returning jewelry to the guest. Clean and inspect jewelry while identifying possible maintenance or repair concerns. Process service orders, payments, and sales transactions accurately. Recommend appropriate services, replacement pieces, upgrades, or additional jewelry when relevant to the guest's needs. Maintain working knowledge of fine-jewelry terminology, metals, gemstones, settings, components, and common repair procedures. Build long-term client relationships through consistent follow-up and exceptional service. Support showroom presentation, merchandising, and general team collaboration. Follow all security, merchandise-handling, compliance, and loss-prevention procedures. Qualifications Previous professional experience in the jewelry industry is strongly preferred. Basic working knowledge of jewelry terminology, precious metals, gemstones, settings, and common jewelry components. Ability to understand and explain basic differences between sterling silver, gold, and platinum. Familiarity with common jewelry concerns such as worn prongs, loose stones, broken chains, damaged clasps, ring sizing, cleaning, and inspections. Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately document valuable customer property. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Professional and customer-focused demeanor. Strong organizational and follow-up skills. Comfortable discussing pricing, collecting payments, and identifying appropriate service or sales opportunities. Reliable and able to manage multiple repairs, customer needs, and follow-up tasks. High school diploma or equivalent required. Flexible availability to meet business needs, including Saturdays and occasional evenings. Previous jewelry repair intake or service-department experience is helpful but not required. Training will be provided on repair intake, documentation, estimates, quality control, service procedures, and internal systems.
