Premier Custom Built is seeking a detail-oriented and creative Finish Artist to join our Color Lab team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, matching, testing, and documenting custom finishes for high-end residential cabinetry. Working closely with designers, project managers, and production teams, you will ensure every finish meets our exceptional standards for color accuracy, consistency, and quality. Key Responsibilities Color Development & Matching Create and match custom stains, paints, glazes, and specialty finishes to customer specifications. Develop finish samples for client approval and production use. Maintain accurate color formulas and finish records for repeatability and consistency. Finish Testing & Quality Assurance Test and evaluate finish samples on various wood species and materials. Verify color consistency and finish quality before releasing formulas to production. Troubleshoot color and finish issues and recommend solutions. Sample Preparation Prepare sample boards and finish displays for customers, designers, and internal review. Apply stains, paints, glazes, toners, and specialty finishes using established techniques and procedures. Collaboration Partner with designers, project managers, and production teams to ensure finishes meet design intent and customer expectations. Provide technical support and guidance to finishing personnel regarding finish application and color consistency. Required Skills & Qualifications Experience in color matching, wood finishing, paint mixing, coatings, or a related field preferred. Strong understanding of stains, paints, pigments, glazes, and finishing materials. Exceptional attention to detail and ability to distinguish subtle color variations. Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills. Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines. Effective communication and collaboration skills. Knowledge of woodworking materials and finishing techniques is a plus. Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience in custom cabinetry, furniture manufacturing, woodworking, or architectural finishes. Familiarity with spray finishing techniques and finishing equipment. Background in color theory, coatings technology, or related disciplines.
