A Locksmith installs door and building locks and makes copies of locks and keys for customers. Assists people who lose keys or get locked out of cars or buildings, and changes building locks as needed for security.
Paragon is seeking an experienced Locksmith Project Manager to oversee commercial locksmith, door, and physical security projects from planning through completion. The Project Manager will coordinate locksmiths, door installers, customers, vendors, subcontractors, and general contractors to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and according to the approved scope of work. The ideal candidate has a strong commercial locksmith background, excellent organizational skills, and experience leading field personnel and managing projects. This position is focused on locksmithing, doors, and mechanical/physical security and does not include responsibility for electronic access control, CCTV, alarms, or other low voltage systems. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESProject Management Manage commercial locksmith and door projects from award through completion. Review proposals, scopes of work, drawings, hardware schedules, and customer requirements. Develop project schedules, manpower requirements, and installation plans. Coordinate locksmiths, door installers, vendors, subcontractors, customers, and contractors. Monitor project progress, labor, materials, schedules, and project costs. Identify delays, material shortages, field issues, and scope changes and communicate them to management. Maintain accurate project documentation, work orders, change orders, and closeout records. Coordinate punch-list completion, inspections, customer walkthroughs, and final turnover. Locksmith & Door Hardware Oversee projects involving: Commercial and high-security locks Mortise and cylindrical locks Deadbolts Exit devices and panic hardware Door closers and hinges Commercial doors and frames Rekeying and master key systems Key duplication Lock repair and replacement Door installation, alignment, and adjustment Safes, window gates, iron work, and related physical security products Provide technical guidance to field technicians. Review hardware schedules and project specifications. Identify field conditions or discrepancies and coordinate appropriate solutions. Ensure doors, locks, and hardware are properly installed and functioning. Field Team Leadership Schedule and coordinate locksmiths, door installers, helpers, and subcontractors. Assign work based on project requirements and technician experience. Monitor workmanship, productivity, and project progress. Conduct job-site visits and quality-control inspections. Ensure technicians have the proper tools, hardware, materials, and job information. Support training and development of less-experienced locksmiths and installers. Estimating & Materials Assist with site surveys, estimates, material takeoffs, and labor calculations. Coordinate project materials and hardware with vendors. Track orders and delivery schedules. Identify work outside the original scope and assist with change orders. Monitor labor and material costs and communicate potential issues to management. Customer & Contractor Relations Serve as a primary project contact for customers, property managers, building owners, and contractors. Attend site meetings, walkthroughs, and inspections as required. Communicate project schedules, progress, delays, and completion requirements. Maintain professional relationships with customers and project partners. Address project concerns promptly and professionally. Safety & Compliance Promote safe work practices and ensure field personnel follow company safety procedures and applicable OSHA requirements. Ensure work is performed according to applicable laws, project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and company policies. Support documentation requirements for applicable public-work and prevailing-wage projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required 3+ years of commercial locksmith, door, door-hardware, or physical security experience. 2+ years of experience in project management, field supervision, lead locksmith, foreman, or similar leadership role. Strong knowledge of commercial locksmithing and door hardware. Experience with commercial locks, rekeying, master key systems, exit devices, door closers, and commercial doors. Ability to read architectural drawings, hardware schedules, scopes of work, and specifications. Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and field personnel. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, as required. Preferred Experience with commercial locksmiths or security companies. Experience working with general contractors, property managers, and developers. Experience with estimating, material takeoffs, and change orders. Locksmith industry certifications or training. Experience with project-management or field-service software. Experience supervising multiple locksmiths and door installers.
PHYSICAL & WORK REQUIREMENTS
Regular travel to customer and project locations throughout NYC and surrounding areas. Ability to visit active construction and commercial job sites. Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, kneel, and navigate job-site environments. Ability to occasionally lift and carry tools, hardware, equipment, and materials. Occasional early morning, evening, or extended hours may be required based on project needs.
