THE POSITION

Are you looking for a hands-on role that maintains operational readiness and physical security of a correctional facility? As a Corrections Locksmith at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Forest, you will help keep the institution running safely and smoothly. Your work ensures that locks, keys, and door systems remain reliable and secure. This role offers steady challenges and the chance to work with a variety of tools and equipment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role supports institutional safety by installing, maintaining, and repairing lock systems and related equipment. As a Corrections Locksmith, you will perform the following duties:

Lock Maintenance:

Install and repair mechanical, electronic, and pneumatic lock systems

Preventative Checks:

Perform routine inspections to ensure operability of equipment

Key Production:

Produce keys, log lost or damaged keys, and adjust master key sets

Record Keeping:

Maintain detailed logs of work performed on locks and equipment

Tool Management:

Determine needed tools and materials and submit purchase requests

Inmate Oversight:

Oversee inmates performing non-security tasks and maintain related records Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week

Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday

• Friday.

This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

Telework:

You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Salary:

Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $49,010.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Two years of experience in the locksmith trade; or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirement:

You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
