Job Title:
CNC Machinist Job Description We are seeking skilled Machinists to drive advanced manufacturing at a precision facility supporting the aerospace and defence industries. In this role, you will program, set up, machine, and inspect parts on 3, 4, and 5 axis mills and multi-axis lathes. You work with tight tolerances, perform tool changes, set up multi-axis operations, and use precision measuring devices to ensure parts meet exact specifications and quality standards. Responsibilities Operate Mazak, Haas, Okuma, and other CNC machines to produce precision components to specification. Set up CNC mills and lathes, including multi-axis (4-axis and 5-axis) configurations, ensuring proper tooling, fixtures, and workholding. Perform tool changes and adjust offsets as needed to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish. Work with a variety of materials, including aluminum, steel, alloys, and Inconel, selecting appropriate tools and machining strategies. Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to plan machining operations. Use precision measuring devices such as calipers and micrometers to verify dimensions and ensure compliance with tight tolerances. Program, modify, and troubleshoot G-code programs to optimize machining processes and resolve production issues. Perform machine setups for new jobs, including fixture installation, workpiece alignment, and verification of machine parameters. Monitor machine performance and part quality, making adjustments to feeds, speeds, and tooling as required. Maintain a clean and organized machine shop work area and follow standard operating procedures for safety and quality. Use personal tools (calipers, micrometers, wrenches, and other basic hand tools) to support daily machining and setup tasks. Experience with Mastercam software for programming and designing parts. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntsville, AL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $43.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
