ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS A
Threading Operator is responsible for operating machinery that creates threads on parts — typically on the outside of rod and bolts and inside of nuts. These threads allow the parts to be fastened, connected, or screwed into other parts in later assembly stages. Set up and run threading machines to cut threads according to job specifications. Operate dies, taps, or cutting tools depending on the type of threading (internal or external). Monitor machine operation to ensure accurate thread production. Use technical drawings, and work orders to determine thread type, pitch, size, and material requirements. Follow threading standards such as UNC, UNF, or custom specifications. Use precision measuring tools (e.g., thread gauges, micrometers, calipers, pitch gauges, tape measure) to check thread quality. Ensure threads are free of burrs, defects, or dimensional inaccuracies. Perform visual and dimensional inspections and record results. Install and adjust tools and dies for threading operations. Perform basic preventive maintenance on machines (e.g., lubrication, cleaning, changing worn tools). Troubleshoot minor issues like poor thread finish, machine vibration, or tool wear. Load raw materials (nuts, rods, bolts) into machines and unload finished parts. Label, bundle, or sort threaded parts for the next stage in production or shipment. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Comply with all company policies and procedures including Health, Safety, and Quality Assurance policies. Report injuries, accidents, near misses or unsafe conditions to a Supervisor or Manager immediately. Other duties as assigned
